Indiana University's highly successful eText program is committed to reducing barriers to academic success through providing lower cost course materials and increasing engagement through its interactive capabilities.
The IU eText program, administered by University Information Technology Services (UITS), has saved students more than $100 million off retail book and digital courseware prices over the past 12 years.
Across the nine IU campuses, approximately 58.
5 percent of the total student body is using at least one IU eTexts title with faculty adoption continuing to trend upward.
Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities Communicates and consults with the stakeholders in campus functional, technical, and administrative units and negotiate, mediate, and resolve issues critical to the academic mission of the University.
Serves in a project management role to document and maintain processes and procedures of the IU eTexts program, including, but not limited to compliance with university, state and federal guidelines, as well as provide operational support for IU eTexts business operations (e.
g.
bursar billing, student refunds, publisher contract payments).
Manages faculty and eTexts coordinator purchasing during eText ordering windows and semester start-up via timely communication and first-in-class customer service.
Monitors eText help email to support questions or issues reported by faculty, staff, students, or vendors.
Promotes IU eTexts program to faculty, staff, and students at in-person and virtual events.
General Responsibilities Consults and serves as an experienced resource in planning, testing and implementing instructional technology projects that support innovative approaches to learning, instructional and assessment.
Maintains currency on emerging technologies related to learning management systems, active learning classrooms, electronic collaboration and social networking, instructional use of multimedia, electronic conferencing and online instruction to help faculty make evidence-based decisions about the use of technology.
Researches, stays up-to-date, and recommends appropriate technologies for developing materials, delivery mechanisms and course/instructor/student assessments to support effective teaching.
Develops and designs workshop materials that promote technology strategies in traditional and online courses and conducts individual, group and large audience training sessions.
Collaborates in larger initiatives and working groups to support university efforts to improve teaching and learning.
Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience.
Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree preferably in computer science, instructional technology/design, or related field Preferred Master's degree WORK EXPERIENCE Required 2 years of experience in instructional development and/or instructional technology consulting, and/or training, and/or teaching (face-to-face or online) or providing instructional design with online instructional technology, preferably in a higher education context SKILLS Required Proficient communication skills Maintains a high degree of professionalism Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty Highly thorough and dependable Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure Understanding and familiarity with multimedia technologies such as software video editors, e-learning authoring software, and collaboration/learning management systems Skilled at serving in lead capacity for projects/initiatives Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Requires some travel to other IU campuses.
